The PicoScope 3418E MSO combines a 4-channel oscilloscope with 500 MHz analog bandwidth and a 16-channel logic analyzer in one compact USB instrument. With sampling rates up to 5 GS/s, selectable 8/10-bit hardware resolution and up to 2 GS capture memory, it is designed for applications where high-speed analog signals and digital communication need to be examined simultaneously.
The 16 digital MSO channels are divided into two logical ports of 8 channels each (D0-D7 and D8-D15). The digital inputs support signals with a maximum input frequency of 100 MHz and data rates up to 200 Mbit/s. A minimum detectable pulse width of 5 ns enables short digital events to be captured and their timing compared directly with signals on the four analog channels.
Each digital port has an independent threshold control. TTL, CMOS, ECL and PECL logic levels can be selected, or a user-defined threshold can be configured within a ±5 V range. This allows signals using different logic levels to be analyzed simultaneously across the two digital input groups.
With 4 analog and 16 digital channels, the PicoScope 3418E MSO can display up to 20 signals within the same capture. This makes it particularly useful for embedded-system development, where clock, data and control lines can be correlated with analog sensor, power supply and other circuit signals.
PicoScope 7 also provides serial decoding for a wide range of communication protocols, including I²C, SPI, UART/RS232, CAN, CAN FD, CAN XL, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet and USB. Protocol data can be viewed alongside analog and digital waveforms, helping identify relationships between electrical events and transmitted data.
A built-in single-channel 20 MHz arbitrary waveform generator (AWG) provides both standard functions and user-defined waveforms. The PicoScope 3418E MSO therefore combines oscilloscope, 16-channel logic analyzer and waveform generator capabilities in a single instrument.
Connection to the computer is via SuperSpeed USB-C, with PicoScope 7 software available for Windows, macOS and Linux. Advanced triggering, automatic measurements, math channels, serial decoding and mask limit testing are included without additional license fees.
